Emma Hayes has been confirmed as the new coach of the USWNT, and will begin her new role next summer after signing a deal with the US Soccer Federation.
Hayes is currently the manager of Chelsea Women, where she has won 13 major trophies since joining the WSL in 2012.
She is also close to becoming the world’s highest paid female coach, with a salary equal to the men’s boss Greg Berhalter.
Hayes is a London-born coach who has previously managed in the US when she was the head coach of Chicago Red Stars. She will take over from Vlatko Andonovski, who resigned after the USWNT’s shock exit in the last 16 of the Women’s World Cup this summer.
Hayes will face her first major challenge at the Paris Olympics next summer, where she will aim to lead the USWNT to their fifth gold medal.
