The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have explained that the suspension of their nationwide strike was due to the fact that the federal government met some of their crucial agreements.
The national security adviser (NSA) met with the leadership of organized labour on the second day of the nationwide strike, and they were able to secure the federal government’s confidence through him. However, discussion on labour demands would continue.
An apology was tendered on behalf of the government by the NSA, which promised to coordinate the investigation. Some of the perpetrators have been arrested, and we were given high assurances that all others will be fished out and prosecuted. However, discussion on labour demands would continue.
