Manchester City star Erling Haaland could be in trouble with the FA after he slammed the referee’s decision to stop play in the dying moments of their 3-3 draw with Tottenham on Sunday.
The Norwegian striker was furious when referee Simon Hooper blew his whistle just as Jack Grealish was about to break through on goal. Hooper had initially signalled for an advantage after Haaland was fouled, but then changed his mind and awarded a free kick to City.
Haaland expressed his disbelief on X, posting “Wtf” along with a video of the incident. He also confronted the referee on the pitch, earning himself a yellow card and a heated exchange with Spurs players.
According to ESPN, Haaland’s post could land him in hot water with the FA, who have rules against improper comments about match officials. The FA could charge him with misconduct and impose a fine or a ban.
