Emeka Beke, the former chairman of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has a message for Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT] to leave Governor Sim Fubara alone.
Beke, who spoke on Arise TV Morning Show on Monday, accused Wike of interfering in the affairs of Rivers State and causing instability and chaos. He said that Wike’s actions are driving away investors and hurting the economy of the state.
“Wike should respect the will of the people of Rivers State who elected Fubara as their governor. And he should stop trying to undermine his authority and sabotage his efforts to deliver good governance,” Beke said.
He also warned Wike not to repeat the same mistake he made with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), which he allegedly destroyed by creating factions and divisions. He said that Wike’s attempt to lure some state lawmakers to defect from the PDP to the APC is a futile and illegal move.
There is a due process for joining a party you don’t just wake up one day and announce that you have switched sides you have to start from your unit, your ward, then your state. You have to follow the constitution and the rules of the party. Wike is trying to create anarchy and confusion in the APC, but he will fail,” Beke said.
Beke urged Wike to focus on his assignment in Abuja and leave Rivers State to Fubara, who he said is working hard to restore peace and development in the state. He said that Wike’s meddling is only creating more problems and conflicts in the state, which has suffered enough from violence and insecurity in the past eight years.
Fubara is the governor of Rivers State, and he deserves the support and cooperation of all stakeholders, regardless of their party affiliation. He is not here to play politics, but to serve the people. Wike should allow him to do his job and stop disturbing the peace of the state. He has already ruined the PDP, he should not try to ruin the APC as well,” Beke said.
