NAFDAC Urges Bauchi Medicine Dealers to Shun Fake Drugs

Date:

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a stern warning to the members of the National Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers (NAPPMED) in Bauchi state to stop selling fake drugs that can endanger the lives of the patients in the country.

The warning was given by the Bauchi state Coordinator of NAFDAC, Mr Paul Kaima, at the swearing-in ceremony of the new Executives of NAPPMED Bauchi Chapter in the state.

He appealed to them to be responsible and ethical in their business and to ensure that the public health is protected in the state.

The NAFDAC Coordinator also cautioned them to avoid the illegal practices that make them hide from NAFDAC and expose them to fraudsters who pose as NAFDAC officials.

He said, “the illegal medicine practices make you look like dealers in ineffective drugs, which will drive away your customers”.

Mr Kaima assured them of a cordial relationship as the association continues to cooperate with NAFDAC.

The Patron of the Dealers Alh Umaru Dahiru said in his speech that they need to fear God as the lives of the public are at stake, and urged the vendors to be very careful with the kind of drugs they sell to their customers in the state.

The outgoing President of NAPPMED, Alhaji Tukur Abdu Azare, in his address, advised the new elected officials to be focused and work with relevant stakeholders to move the association forward.

Alhaji Azare then thanked all the members of the association for their support during his tenure and called on them to continue to support the new officials to achieve the goals of the association.

The newly elected President of NAPPMED, Mr. Samson J Magaji, promised to work in harmony with all relevant agencies and to provide a visionary leadership that will take the association to the next level in the state.

He urged them to comply with NAFDAC to create a healthy and safe environment for everyone, and to be vigilant in their market area and neighborhoods and to report any suspicious activities to NAFDAC immediately.
