Suarez to Miami: A Match Made in Heaven
Luiz Suarez is ready to join his former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi at Inter Miami, according to multiple sources. The Uruguayan striker has agreed to a one-year deal with the MLS club, with an option for another year.
Suarez, who currently plays for Brazilian side Grêmio, will finish the season in South America before flying to Florida to reunite with Messi, who signed for Inter Miami in July 2023. The duo formed a lethal partnership at Barca, scoring 478 goals and winning 13 trophies together.
Suarez will also link up with other ex-Barca stars Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, who joined Inter Miami in the summer. The club, owned by David Beckham, has undergone a massive transformation, winning the Leagues Cup and attracting global attention.
Suarez, who turns 37 in January, has shown no signs of slowing down, scoring 10 goals and assisting 10 more in 26 games for Grêmio. He is also Uruguay’s all-time top scorer, with 68 goals in 137 caps.
Suarez’s arrival will boost Inter Miami’s chances of winning their first MLS Cup, as well as competing in the Concacaf Champions League. He will also add more star power to a team that already features Messi, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Suarez’s move to Miami has been welcomed by fans and pundits alike, who are eager to see him and Messi light up the league. Some have even dubbed them the “Miami Dream Team”, while others have joked that Suarez will finally get to bite into some juicy burgers in the Sunshine State
