Napoli have secured the services of their star striker Victor Osimhen until 2026 with a lucrative contract extension. The Nigerian international, who joined the club from Lille in 2020, has agreed to a new deal that will make him the highest paid player in the club’s history. Release clause will be in the region of €130m. Done and sealed today
Why Osimhen decided to stay at Napoli
Osimhen had been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea and Arsenal reportedly interested in his services. However, the 24-year-old decided to stay loyal to Napoli, where he has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world.
Osimhen said that he was happy at Napoli and wanted to repay the club’s faith in him. He also said that he was motivated by the challenge of competing for trophies and making history with the Partenopei.
“I am very happy to sign this new contract with Napoli. They have shown me a lot of love and trust since I arrived. I want to give back to them and the fans with my performances and goals,” Osimhen said.
“I have a great relationship with the coach, the staff, and my teammates. We have a strong team that can fight for the Scudetto and the Champions League. I want to be part of this project and make history with Napoli,” he added.
