Davido in hot water as Tiwa Savage files police complaint over alleged threats

Date:

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that it is investigating the allegations made by Nigerian songstress Tiwa Savage against fellow musician Davido, who is accused of threatening and harassing her over an Instagram post.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, disclosed this on Wednesday, saying that the petition filed by Tiwa Savage had been received and that the investigation had commenced.

Tiwa Savage, in her petition dated January 9, claimed that Davido had used abusive language and issued veiled threats to her through their shared management team, in response to a post that featured her and his baby mama, Sophia Momodu.

The award-winning singer expressed her shock and dismay at Davido’s behaviour, reminding him of her support for his family during their trying times, especially after the loss of his son. She also warned him to be held accountable for any harm that might befall her or her family as a result of his actions.

The petition has sparked a lot of reactions from fans and celebrities alike, with some taking sides and others calling for peace and reconciliation. The feud between the two stars, who were once close friends and collaborators, has also raised questions about the state of the Nigerian music industry and the impact of social media on artistes’ relationships.
