Lagos Police Nab Four Notorious Robbers with Deadly Arsenal

Date:

In a daring raid, the Lagos State Police Command has put an end to the reign of terror of four armed robbers who have been plaguing Ikorodu and its environs.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, announced the arrest in a statement issued on Friday.

He said the suspects were cornered by the CP’s Tactical Squad on Thursday at about 1.00 am, following a tip-off from a reliable source. Hundeyin revealed that the suspects were also members of the dreaded Eiye Confraternity, and were apprehended at the Ginti area of Elepe in Ikorodu.

The squad recovered a huge cache of weapons from the suspects, including three English double barrel guns, one pump action gun, one reining model 700 riffle, one locally-made pistol and 69 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition.

Other items seized from the robbers are 68 rounds of live cartridges, five rounds of 7.62 live ammunition, one Beretta pistol magazine, four battle axes, three daggers, five cutlasses, one digger, one police camouflage. The squad also impounded one face mask, one Lexus 300 SUV, one Volvo wagon XC-70, and one POS machine belonging to the suspects,” he said.

Hundeyin said that the police command has launched a thorough investigation into the operations of the robbers, and vowed to bring them to justice.

How did the police manage to track down the robbers? What were they planning to do with their deadly arsenal? How long have they been terrorising the residents of Ikorodu? These are some of the questions that the police command hopes to answer as they unravel the mystery behind the notorious robbers.
