Peter Obi salutes Nigerian Military on Armed forces remembrance day

Date:

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 general election, has commended the Nigerian military for their steadfastness and determination to overcome the insecurity challenges facing the nation.

In a message posted on his official X page, Obi expressed his gratitude and admiration for the military personnel who are willing to make enormous sacrifices to ensure peace and security within the country.

He said, “On this Armed Forces Remembrance Day, I join other Nigerians in celebrating our brave and patriotic military men who put their lives on the line to defend the peace, unity and sovereignty of our beloved nation.

“We remember with honour and respect our fallen heroes who have paid the supreme price while protecting our nation from internal and external threats. We appreciate and honour them for their valour and loyalty, while extending our sympathy and support to their grieving families. Great nations are built by visionary leaders, responsible citizens and gallant defenders of freedom – the military.

“Our national history and identity would be incomplete without acknowledging their heroic sacrifices that take them away from the comfort of their homes and the warmth of their families.

“As the country faces daunting challenges in its fight against terrorism, violence, crime and all forms of insecurity, we stand with our military men and women, and encourage them not to lose hope or morale, even when they feel overwhelmed by the war.

“May this day rekindle their passion, enthusiasm and courage to remain resolute in their quest for a peaceful and crime-free Nigeria. May we, the leaders, ensure that the welfare of our armed forces and their families are well taken care of, as they graciously serve our nation.”
