Real Madrid president Florentino Perez was not satisfied with Vinicius Junior’s sensational performance in the Spanish Super Cup final, where he scored a hat-trick to lead his team to a 4-1 victory over arch-rivals Barcelona.
Vinicius, who has been in scintillating form this season, tore apart the Barca defence with his pace, skill and finishing, scoring three goals in the first half to put the game beyond doubt. He also paid tribute to former Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo with his trademark celebrations, earning the admiration of the fans and the media.
However, Perez, who is known for his high standards and expectations, was not impressed by the Brazilian winger’s display. He jokingly told him after the match that he should have scored more goals, and that three was not enough.
“He’s one of the best players in the world, but I’ve told him that he has to score more goals, that three is not enough,” Perez said, according to Madrid Xtra.
Perez then praised Vinicius for his improvement and his contribution to the team, which has won its first trophy of the season and is in contention for more. He also expressed his confidence in manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has brought stability and success to the club since his return in the summer.
“Vinicius has grown a lot as a player and as a person. He works hard and he helps the team. He has a bright future ahead of him. I’m very happy with him and with the whole team. Ancelotti is doing a great job. He knows how to manage this squad and he has the experience and the quality to win everything,” Perez added.
