President Bola Tinubu is holding a private meeting with United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
Blinken, who arrived at the State House at about 06:53 pm local time, was welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and escorted to the President’s diplomatic room for a bilateral discussion.
This is the first time that the senior US official is meeting Tinubu since he became the President eight months ago, but his second visit to the seat of power since November 2021 when he met former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Nigeria is the third stop in Blinken’s week-long diplomatic tour, which started in Cabo Verde and continued in Ivory Coast. He is expected to end his trip in the Central African state of Angola.
