She’s 30, he’s 17. But does age really matter when it comes to love?
That’s the question that controversial reality TV star Josephina Ijeoma Otabor, aka Phyna, wants to ask the world. The outspoken diva has been the target of online backlash after she posted a cozy picture with rising singer Khaid, who is 13 years younger than her.
In the latest episode of her Spill With Phyna podcast, Phyna slammed the double standards of society, wondering why women are judged harshly for dating younger men, while men are praised for dating younger women.
She said, “Me and this boy take picture; Khaid. He is young and the picture, I posted it. He posted it as well. Omo, if you see the dragging, ‘Oh Phyna, is this boy you’re dating now?’, ‘Oh Phyna is 30-year-old, this boy is 10 years old.’
“It was so terrible that I was now wondering that in this country we have ladies who are married to way older men. So, I want to know the difference between being a younger man and being a younger girl. Why can’t we have the same balance, I thought they said age is just a number?”
Phyna, who rose to fame after appearing on the hit show Big Brother Naija, is known for her outspoken personality and bold fashion choices. She has been linked to several celebrities in the past, but none as young as Khaid, who is making waves with his catchy tunes and charming voice.
The pair have not confirmed or denied their relationship status, but their fans are divided over their alleged romance. Some support their love, while others condemn their age gap.
