Just hours after his daughter-in-law Princess Kate checked out of the London Clinic, King Charles also waved goodbye to the medical staff who treated his enlarged prostate. The royal father and grandfather looked cheerful and relaxed as he left the hospital on Monday afternoon, following a three-day stay that sparked concern among his loyal subjects.
The King cracked jokes and chatted with the crowd of well-wishers who gathered outside the clinic to catch a glimpse of him. He then hopped into a chauffeured car, ready to resume his duties as the head of state.
Buckingham Palace issued a statement confirming that the King had undergone planned medical treatment and was now in good health. It also said that he had postponed some of his upcoming public engagements to allow for a period of private recuperation. “His Majesty would like to thank the medical team and all those involved in supporting his hospital visit, and is grateful for all the kind messages he has received in recent days,” the statement read.
The Palace also revealed that the King was pleased that his diagnosis had raised awareness about prostate health, a common issue among men of his age. A statement on X said: “His Majesty is delighted that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness.”
Meanwhile, Princess Kate was resting at Adelaide Cottage, her country home with Prince William and their three children. The Duchess of Cambridge had been admitted to the same hospital on Saturday for a minor procedure, and was discharged on Sunday morning. “She is making good progress,” a statement from Kensington Palace said.
