Popular Yoruba comic actor, Babatunde Bernard, also known as Baba Tee, has opened up about the dark and painful chapters of his life in his latest interview on the ‘Honest Bunch podcast’. The actor, who is now happily married to his third wife, shared his experience of being physically and emotionally abused by his first wife, Yetunde Oduwole, a UK-based socialite.
Baba Tee recounted how he met his ex-wife in a surprising manner and how they had their first sexual encounter in the sitting room. He said their relationship started well, but soon turned sour when his ex-wife began to slap him in public and accuse him of assault in London. He said he endured the abuse for a long time because he loved her and hoped she would change.
“The first abuse I got was a big dirty slap. I met my wife in a surprising manner, and we had our first sex in the sitting room. Yetunde was my first wife, I was a boss on my own and she was a boss on her own”.
The actor also revealed how his former best friend, comedian Seyi Law, betrayed him by stealing his intellectual property for his personal gain. He said Seyi Law used his joke at one of AY’s shows without his permission and later denied it. He said he felt hurt and disappointed by Seyi Law’s action, as he considered him a brother.
“Seyi Law was my best friend, we were very close, but one day, Omo Jesus called me to inform me Seyi Law was using my joke at AY Makun’s concert.
“He used my material to do an Open Mic at his show. I didn’t believe it until he rendered my joke at a show I attended. My intellectual property and I once noticed it before.” he said.
Baba Tee said he has forgiven both his ex-wife and Seyi Law, and he is now focused on his career and family. He said he is grateful to God for giving him a second chance at happiness and peace. He also advised his fans to be careful of who they trust and to always seek God’s guidance in everything they do.
