NEW GUINNESS WORLD RECORD

Ewaoluwa Olatunji, also known as Ewa Cole, is a Nigerian singer who has achieved an amazing feat: she has broken the Guinness World Record for the longest marathon singing Christmas songs. Ewa sang for a whopping 31 hours non-stop, from 27 to 28 December, becoming the first person to hold this record.

Ewa, who is 29 years old and lives in Lagos, Nigeria, said she took on this challenge to “promote peace and unity” and to inspire confidence in young people. She also created her own music genre called “Afro-Solk”, which is a fusion of Afro-pop, soul, and folk music.

Ewa sang classic Christmas songs such as “Deck the Halls”, “Frosty the Snowman”, “Silent Night” and many more. She was not allowed to repeat any song within a one-hour period. She only had five-minute breaks every hour, which she could accumulate if she did not take them. These were the only times that she could eat, sleep, or use the bathroom.

The record attempt was not easy, as Ewa faced many challenges along the way. She suffered from fatigue, throat pain, stomach problems, and even mild food poisoning. She considered giving up, but she persevered through the pain and did not let it affect her singing.

“I never once stopped singing, even when I completely lost my voice. I will say that God was absolutely by my side all through,” Ewa said.

Ewa, who works as a software engineer and also runs her own clothing brand, said she is thrilled to have earned this Guinness World Records title and is “still buzzing with excitement”. She hopes to use her singing career to explore and make the most of the limitless possibilities that lie ahead.

Ewa’s record attempt was supported by various sponsors and media partners, such as TVC Entertainment, Eat Grill 24, Skybox Lagos, The Amb Company, Dara Naturals, Bermondsey Hotel, and Olori Supergal Media. Many Nigerian netizens have also taken to social media to congratulate and celebrate with Ewa on her achievement.

Ewa is not the only Nigerian to have made it into the Guinness World Records. Other notable Nigerians who have earned this honour include celebrity chef Hilda Baci, who cooked for 53 hours non-stop, and Kafayat Shafau-Ameh, aka Kaffy, who danced for 52 hours and 3 minutes.

Congratulations to Ewa Cole for setting a new Guinness World Record and making Nigeria proud!
