Pere Egbi Says BBNaija Winners Don’t Deserve Their Prizes, Blames Nigerian Voters
Pere Egbi, a former contestant of the popular reality show Big Brother Naija, has dropped a bombshell on the past winners of the show. He claimed that they did not earn their prizes with merit, but with the sympathy of the emotional Nigerian voters.
Pere Egbi implied that the Nigerian audience was not rational or objective in their voting decisions, but rather swayed by sentiment and drama. He contrasted this with the hypothetical scenarios of the show being held in South Africa or America, where he believed the winners would have been different.
Pere, who participated in the show twice, in the Shine Ya Eye season in 2021 and the All Stars edition in 2023, said he had no interest in returning to the show ever again. He expressed his frustration and disappointment with the Nigerian viewers and their lack of readiness for reality TV.
In the latest episode of Celebrity Quickies, Pere opened up about his experience in the Big Brother Naija house. He said: “It was a rollercoaster ride. I met different kinds of people, some good, some bad, some ugly. I learned a lot from them. But overall, it was not worth it.
“I would never go back to the [BBNaija] House again, even if they begged me. Why? Because Nigerians don’t know how to watch reality TV. They vote with their hearts, not their heads. They are easily manipulated by the drama queens and kings, the crybabies and the troublemakers. Nigerians don’t appreciate the real talents and personalities.
“I’m telling you the truth, if this was a South African or American show, the winners would have been totally different. They would have been the ones who showed their skills, their intelligence, their charisma, not their tears, their fights, or their scandals.”
