The world knows Celine Dion as a powerhouse vocalist, a global superstar, and a pop icon. But behind the scenes, she is also a woman who has faced incredible challenges, both personal and professional. In the new documentary : I Am Celine Dion, the singer opens up about her life, her health, and her passion for music.
The film, directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Irene Taylor, follows Dion for a year as she battles stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that causes muscle stiffness and spasms. Despite the pain and the uncertainty, Dion refuses to give up on her dream of performing for her fans. She also shares intimate moments from her past and present, from her childhood in Quebec to her rise to fame, from her marriage to René Angélil to his death from cancer, from her motherhood to her fashion choices.
I Am: Celine Dion is more than just a biography of a legendary artist. It is a raw, emotional, and poetic love letter to music, and to the millions of people who have been touched by Dion’s voice. It is also a testament to Dion’s courage, resilience, and generosity, as she hopes to raise awareness and help others who suffer from the same condition.
The documentary, produced by Sony Music Vision in partnership with SME Canada and Vermilion Films, was acquired by Amazon MGM Studios and will be available to stream on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories. A release date will be announced soon.
