Davido Celebrates Tyla’s Historic Grammy Win for Africa

Date:

Nigerian superstar Davido has showered praises on South African rap sensation Tyla, who made history by winning the first-ever Best African Music Performance award at the 66th Grammy Awards on Sunday night in Los Angeles.

The ‘Feel’ hitmaker took to his X handle on Monday to share his excitement and admiration for the 22-year-old Tyla, who beat out some of the continent’s biggest names with her smash single ‘Water’.

“Congratulations on your win #Tyllaaaaaaa! Big One for Africa! Keep soaring!” Davido tweeted, adding a fire emoji and a heart emoji.

Davido, who was nominated for three Grammys this year, including Best Global Music Album for ‘A Better Time’, showed no signs of bitterness or envy as he congratulated his fellow nominee. Instead, he expressed his pride and solidarity for the African music scene, which has been gaining more recognition and exposure on the global stage.
