Ruger Breaks Free From Jonzing World, Launches Blown Boy Ent

The Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Ruger, has announced his departure from Jonzing World, the record label that gave him his big break in 2021. The singer and songwriter, who rose to fame with the hit song “Bounce”, revealed that he has started his own imprint, Blown Boy Ent, to pursue his creative vision and independence.

Ruger made the announcement on his social media platforms on Monday, February 5, 2024, with a video teaser of his upcoming single, “Freedom”. He thanked Jonzing World and its founder, D’Prince, for their support and mentorship, and expressed his gratitude to his fans for their loyalty and love.

“I’m excited to share with you all that I have officially left Jonzing World and launched my own label, Blown Boy Ent. This is a new chapter in my musical journey and I can’t wait to show you what I have in store for you. I appreciate Jonzing World and D’Prince for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to grow and shine. I also want to thank my amazing fans for sticking with me through thick and thin. You are the reason I do this and I promise to always make you proud. Blown Boy Ent is here to stay and we are ready to take over the world. Watch out for my new single, Freedom, dropping soon. Ruger joined Jonzing World in January 2021 the label’s flagship artist. He released his debut EP, Pandemic, in March 2021, which featured the smash hit “Bounce”. The song became a viral sensation, topping several charts and playlists across Africa and beyond. Ruger followed up with his second EP, The Second Wave, in November 2021, which spawned another hit, “Dior”. The EP debuted at number 32 on the Top 50 chart and number 15 on the UK Afrobeats Singles Chart.

Ruger’s music style is a fusion of Afro-pop, trap, and dancehall. is known for his smooth vocals, catchy melodies, and energetic performances. He has been praised for his distinctive voice and ability to blend different genres of music. He has been featured on several top charts and playlists, including Apple Music’s New Music Daily and Top 100 Nigeria.
