Police Heroically Thwart Deadly Kidnapping Plot, Take Down Notorious Bandit in Abuja

In a daring and commendable operation, police operatives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) have successfully foiled a deadly kidnapping attempt and neutralized a notorious bandit in the outskirts of Abuja. The bandit, identified as Isa Dei-Dei, was the leader of a ruthless gang that had been terrorizing residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with their heinous crimes.

According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the IRT received credible intelligence on Friday, February 5, 2024, about the hideout and activities of the bandit group. Acting swiftly on the information, the IRT operatives proceeded to the location for possible arrest.

However, upon reaching the scene, the bandits sensed the presence of the police and attempted to flee. The IRT operatives immediately gave chase, which resulted in a fierce gun duel. In the process, the notorious Isa Dei-Dei was fatally shot, while other members of the syndicate managed to escape with gunshot injuries.

“We urge members of the public, most especially medical practitioners, to call our attention to anyone or patients seen with gunshot wounds for further investigation,” ACP Adejobi said.

He also revealed that the IRT recovered one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 18 rounds of live ammunition from the scene.

The Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, praised the IRT operatives for their professionalism, bravery, and effective synergy. He assured the residents of the FCT of the police’s commitment to ensuring their safety and security.
