Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, better known as Asake, has emerged as the Best African Artist of the Year at the 2024 MOBO Awards held in Sheffield, United Kingdom, on Wednesday night.
The ‘Mr Money’ hitmaker triumphed over his fellow Nigerians Davido, Ayra Starr, Rema, as well as Grammy-winning South African singer, Tyla and others to grab the award.
Asake has now joined the elite club of Nigerians who have won Best African Act at the MOBO Awards, including 2Baba, D’Banj, Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy.
In another win for Nigeria, Limoblaze scooped the Best Gospel Act award at the ceremony.
Also, British-Nigerian rapper, Tunde bagged the Best New Artist award.
British rapper, Central Cee dominated the night with two awards: Best Male Act and Song of the Year for ‘Sprinter’ featuring British-Nigerian rapper, Dave.
Drake and 21 Savage shared the Best International Act award while Soul II Soul received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
