Nigerian rapper, Tochukwu Ojogwu, better known as Odumodublvck, has expressed his displeasure over the constant online attacks on Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
Pastor Adeboye recently sparked a heated debate on social media after he stated that Nigeria’s problems are spiritual and require divine intervention. Many Christian youths disagreed with his view and accused him of being insensitive, ignorant, and hypocritical.
However, Odumodublvck, who is a fast-rising star in the music industry, took to Twitter on Monday, February 12, 2024, to stand up for the revered cleric. He compared the situation with how Muslims treat their religious leaders with respect and dignity, and urged Christians to do the same.
He wrote: “Pastor Adeboye never insulted no one on this app. You do not see Muslims come out to insult their clerics. Then later we complain that our religion is being stepped on. Even based on age wise. Una no fit follow una papa talk the way una dey follow Adeboye talk. And e senior una papa and una mama. That’s why I never rated you niggas on this app. Una double standards choke.”
The ‘dog eat dog’ singer also shared a screenshot of a news article that reported Pastor Adeboye’s controversial statement, and added: “This man is a legend. Respect him.”
Odumodublvck’s tweet generated mixed reactions from his fans and followers. Some praised him for speaking the truth and defending Pastor Adeboye, while others criticized him for being biased and misinformed.
One user commented: “No pastor or imam will try to wash us and we go clap for am like mumu wey you want make we be. Exposing foolery has no age limit. Anybody papa go collect. Big kala for otondo. Koba!”
Another user wrote: “Leave this matter for now. There is a mystery behind all this religious stuff. Focus on your next album more. We love you.”
Odumodublvck is not the first celebrity to voice his opinion on Pastor Adeboye’s remark. Earlier, comedian Alibaba also came to the defense of the RCCG leader, saying that he was right about Nigeria’s spiritual problem.
