Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has set the record straight on his relationship with Daniel Bwala, who was one of the voices of his campaign in the 2023 presidential election. In a statement released by his media office on Tuesday, Atiku revealed that Bwala was only a spokesperson for his presidential campaign from 2022 to early 2023, and nothing more.
Atiku stressed that Bwala was never part of his inner circle or personal staff, contrary to some media reports that described him as his aide. He said:
“I want to make it clear to the media and the public that Mr Daniel Bwala was not my aide, but a spokesperson for the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation. He volunteered his services and support to our campaign, and I appreciate his contributions. However, he has no official or unofficial role in my political or business affairs.”
