Tinubu calls on Africa to unite against terror at Abuja summit

Date:

In a bold move to rally the continent against the scourge of terrorism, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has invited all African leaders to join him at the Africa Counter-Terrorism Summit in Abuja next month.

The invitation was announced by his spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, who tweeted a video of Tinubu’s speech at the AU Summit in Ethiopia on Saturday.

In his speech, Tinubu challenged the African Union to go beyond the conventional approaches of fighting terror with guns and bombs, and address the underlying factors that fuel violent extremism in the region.

He said the Abuja summit will be a platform for African leaders to share best practices, forge partnerships, and devise holistic solutions to the complex challenges of poverty, exclusion, and radicalization that threaten the peace and stability of the continent.
