Rituraj Singh, beloved TV actor, passes away at 59

Date:

The television industry is mourning the loss of one of its finest actors, Rituraj Singh, who breathed his last on Tuesday night after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 59 years old.

Rituraj Singh had a long and illustrious career in television, spanning over three decades. He was known for his versatile and powerful performances in shows such as Banegi Apni Baat, Jyoti, Hitler Didi, Shapath, Warrior High, Aahat, Adaalat, and Diya Aur Baati Hum. He also appeared in the hit show Anupamaa, where he played the role of Anupamaa’s father-in-law.

His colleagues and friends from the industry expressed their shock and grief over his demise. Amit Behl, the chief of Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA), confirmed the news of his passing to India Today. He said that Rituraj Singh had been hospitalised recently for a pancreatic illness and was feeling weak on Tuesday. He was rushed to the hospital, but he succumbed to a cardiac arrest on the way.

Arshad Warsi, who had worked with Rituraj Singh in his first film as a producer, took to X (formerly Twitter) to pay his tribute. He wrote,

“I am so saddened to know that Ritu Raj passed away. We lived in the same building, he was a part of my first film as a producer. Lost a friend and a great actor…”

Sandip Sikand, who had worked with Rituraj Singh in the popular show Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, also shared his condolences. He said, “I am shocked & heartbroken on hearing the news! Someone posted the news on one of my WhatsApp groups early in the morning and since I have just been in shock. I have worked closely with Rhitu in Kahani Ghar Ghar Kii, he was one of the only actors who gave me a warm welcome on the show. To say that he was a brilliant actor is an obvious thing, but more than an actor he was one of the finest human beings that I know. I am really saddened by the news. May his soul rest in peace and may his wife and kids get the strength to deal with this loss.”

Rituraj Singh is survived by his wife and two children. He will be remembered for his immense contribution to the television industry and his unforgettable roles that touched the hearts of millions of viewers.
