Robin Windsor: A Tribute to the Dancing Star Who Left Us Too Soon
The world of dance has lost one of its brightest stars, as Robin Windsor, the former Strictly Come Dancing professional, passed away at the age of 44. He was best known for his dazzling performances on the BBC One show, where he partnered with celebrities such as Deborah Meaden, Lisa Riley, Anita Dobson and Patsy Kensit.
Robin was born in Ipswich, Suffolk, and started dancing at the age of three, following his parents’ footsteps. He moved to London at 15 to pursue his dream of becoming a dancer, and soon made a name for himself in the competitive scene. He represented England in the World Championships, and won numerous titles and awards.
Former Strictly pro James Jordan led the tributes on X Formally (Twitter), he said:
“I had the pleasure of working with this man for many years on Strictly – I have such fond memories of him. He was always very caring and fun to be around.
“Everyone who came in contact with him adored him, from his celebrity partners to his working colleagues. You will be missed old friend.”
He joined Strictly Come Dancing in 2010, and quickly became a fan favourite for his charisma, creativity and passion. Also appeared in the stage show Come What May, a tribute to Moulin Rouge, where he showcased his versatility and talent. He was praised for his “impeccable dancing” and “vibrant spirit” by his colleagues and friends.
Robin was also a proud and outspoken advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, and was happily engaged to his partner Davide Cini in 2013. He later dated X Factor runner-up Marcus Collins, and graced the cover of Gay Times magazine with him in 2014. He was an inspiration to many for his courage and honesty.
Robin’s death has left a huge void in the hearts of his family, friends and fans, who have flooded social media with tributes and condolences. He will be remembered as a brilliant dancer, a loving partner, and a wonderful person. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in his light.
