The Arole Oduduwa and Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, is ready to host the 2024 annual Aje Festival today the 26th of February; a magnificent ancient rite that celebrates economic growth, prosperity and productivity.
This was announced by Ooni’s Spokesman and Chairman of Aje Festival Media Committee, Otunba Moses Olafare, in a press release. He said that Princess Dr. Toyin Kolade, the Iyalaje Oodua Worldwide and Global Ambassador of Aje Festival, is committed to make the forthcoming festival the best of its kind. She has been working relentlessly to coordinate the Aje Festival Committee and all the preparations for the splendid event.
The festival will feature various activities and rites, including the traditional Aje procession from Ile Oodua Palace to the Aje Temple at Oja Ejigbomekun, also known as Oja Ife; the first market ever known to man.
The climax of the festival will be the royal procession, during which the Ooni will lead the entire Ife Traditional Council, special guests, natives and residents of the ancient city to major historic and spiritual sites, including the Aje Temple, to pray for the country’s economic prosperity.
The festival will also have amazing side attractions, such as traditional performances by cultural troupes from across the country, stage plays and other activities to entertain guests and everyone present at the Palace.
Aje is a deity who is the goddess of wealth and trade profitability. She is one of the 401 super human inhabitants of the first world at Ootu Ife, the source of mankind.
The last edition of this epic festival could not take place in 2023 due to the economic realities of the country then, especially the cash crunch. But this edition promises to be the best ever.
