Businesswoman and the Iyalaje Oodua Worldwide, Chief Toyin Kolade, has voiced her confidence that Nigeria will soon surmount its current economic hurdles.
The socialite also appealed for joint efforts in developing and tapping into the country’s resources for economic growth. Kolade, Managing Director, Fisolak Royal Furniture and Arikay Oil and Gas, said this during the 2024 Aje festival held on Monday in the Ancient City of Ile-Ife, Osun.
The socialite, while lauding the tenacity of Nigerians, called for joint efforts in developing and tapping into the country’s resources for economic growth. According to her, the economic fortune of any country is intertwined with embracing its culture and traditions.
Iyalaje urged the government at all levels to give more priority to valuing and celebrating cultural legacies in the country.
“As we celebrate this Aje festival today, Nigerians should anticipate a positive turnaround in terms of more money, food abundance and a more peaceful and prosperous nation. “It is my conviction that as we celebrate Aje today, our prayer has been answered and I hope that government would grant Aje a special status it deserves in our system,” Kolade added.
Kolade expressed hope that the current economic woes and other challenges would soon fade away. Also speaking, a traditional adherent from Mexico, Babalawo Omowale Ifamosun, urged Africans to put more zeal into embracing their cultural heritage.
The Nigerian-Mexican Ifa Priest expressed his displeasure at the apathetic attitude of most Africans towards their culture and tradition.
“I am a white and Ifa priest, I cherish our culture and I also implore fellow Africans to do the same,” Ifamosun stated.
How can we appreciate the richness and diversity of our culture if we don’t celebrate it? How can we attract more blessings and prosperity if we don’t honor Aje, the deity of wealth and commerce? The Aje festival is a unique opportunity to showcase our cultural identity and affirm our economic potential.
