Racism: Meek Mill wants to be a Ghanaian Citizen, blames America’s Anti-Black System

Date:

Fed up with the racial discrimination and oppression he faces in his home country, American rapper Meek Mill has revealed his intention to become a Ghanaian citizen.

The hip-hop star, whose real name is Robert Rihmeek Williams, shared his decision on his X account on Tuesday, March 5, expressing his frustration with the American system that he said was designed to tear down black men.

“I wanna get citizenship in Ghana!!! America made to tear black men down if you don’t follow orders! Africa don’t got this sh*t I’m getting dual citizenship if they let me,” he wrote.

The rapper, who has been vocal about social justice issues and prison reform, also urged his fellow black Americans to vote wisely in the upcoming presidential election, warning that they could lose their history and culture if they did not.

“Make sure black culture hold a strong hold on who we vote for next election or we gone lose black history,” he tweeted.

According to Human Rights Watch, “structural racism and xenophobia persist as powerful and pervasive forces in American society” and “discrimination in the United States permeates all aspects of life and extends to all communities of color.”
