Mamata Banerjee rewards Bengal Anganwadi, Asha workers with salary hike Mamata Banerjee announced a generous increase in the monthly pay of Anganwadi and Asha workers from ₹8,250 to ₹9,000 – a boost of ₹750.
The West Bengal chief minister made the big announcement on Wednesday, as she raised the salaries of Anganwadi and Asha workers starting this April.
Mamata Banerjee’s bold move came as Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a slew of projects in Kolkata via video conference, ahead of the looming Lok Sabha elections. Mamata Banerjee also declared a raise of ₹500 per month in the wages of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) workers.
They were getting ₹6,000 per month earlier, and with this hike, it will go up to ₹6,500.“The Asha and Anganwadi workers are our glory as they work very hard. They stand by us in all the tough times. I hope they succeed in life. Maa Maati Maanush government will always be with the people,” the Trinamool Congress chief said.
The Bengal CM also shared the news on X (formerly Twitter) saying, “Despite the financial hurdles we face, we are committed to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that our people lead happy and prosperous lives!”
