Northern Senate Forum extends condolences to the Nigerian Army following Delta tragedy

Date:

In a solemn declaration, the Northern Senate Forum (NSF) has extended its heartfelt condolences to the Nigerian military hierarchy following the devastating ambush in Okuoma community, Ugheli South Local Government Area of Delta State. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, March 14, claimed the lives of a commanding officer, two majors, one captain, 12 soldiers, and a civilian. The troops were reportedly on a peacekeeping mission amidst a local dispute between the Okuama and Okoloba communities.

Senator Abdulaziz Yar’adua, Chairman of the NSF, expressed the collective grief of the northern senators in a statement released from the nation’s capital on Sunday.

“We stand united in mourning the tragic loss of our valiant officers and soldiers during a peace mission in the Bomadi Local Government Area,” he stated. “Their sacrifice in the service of our country will not be forgotten.”

The nation’s commander-in-chief, President Bola Tinubu, has issued a directive to the military high command to diligently pursue and bring to justice those responsible for this heinous act against the nation’s protectors. In a statement personally signed by him on Sunday evening, President Tinubu emphasized that an assault on the armed forces is an affront to the sovereignty of Nigeria itself.

As the country grapples with this loss, the NSF, along with the entire nation, offers its deepest sympathies to the families of the fallen and honors the courage and dedication of those who serve. The memory of their ultimate sacrifice will forever be etched in the annals of our history.
