Solidstar: The Muse Behind P-Square and Other Nigerian Artists

Date:

Joshua Iniyezo, better known as Solidstar, has made a bold assertion that his breakthrough song ‘One In A Million’ revolutionized the Nigerian music scene.

Upon his rise to fame, his distinctive musical style led many to mistakenly believe he was of Ghanaian descent.

In a recent installment of The Honest Bunch podcast, Solidstar specifically pointed out that the remix of ‘One In A Million’ featuring 2Baba was the inspiration behind P-Square’s hit song ‘Possibility’, which also featured the same artist.

He stated, “My entry into the music industry was paved by ‘One In A Million’. The song not only won me the Best New Artist at the Nigerian Music Video Awards but also caused many to think I was Ghanaian due to my unique style at the time. Little did they know, I’m Nigerian.”

He further added, “‘One In A Million’ was a game-changer for the Nigerian music industry. It was the spark that ignited P-Square’s ‘Possibility’ featuring 2Baba. The song introduced a unique style to the industry. I deliberately slowed down the tempo, and this pattern was soon adopted by others.”
