Archbishop Daniel Okoh, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has called on Nigerian leaders to exercise wisdom and fairness in their governance.
He emphasized that the Easter season is not just a time for celebration, but also a call to action.
In his Easter message delivered on Saturday, the Archbishop implored leaders at all levels to learn from the lessons of Easter and govern with wisdom, fairness, and a sincere dedication to the common good. He also encouraged Christians to live out the virtues of love and the teachings of Easter.
“Easter, amidst our daily trials and victories, serves as an enduring symbol of hope, renewal, and redemption. It invites us to contemplate the ultimate sacrifice made for mankind and the victory of light over darkness. The teachings of Easter are especially pertinent to Nigerian society today. In an era filled with uncertainty, we are summoned to express the virtues of mutual love.
“Just as Christ’s resurrection ushered in new life and hope to the world, we too, as a nation, can transcend our disparities and challenges, and strive for a more promising future,” the message read in part.
Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President of Nigeria and the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in the previous general elections, has urged Nigerians to adopt the virtues of love and sacrifice that defined the life of Jesus Christ.
In an Easter message issued by his Media Office in Abuja, the Waziri Adamawa identified these two attributes as crucial to the unity that Nigeria urgently requires at a time when narrow and regional interests threaten to divide the nation.
The Waziri Adamawa also urged Nigeria’s leaders to seize the occasion of the Christian celebration of Easter to reflect on their service to the people and the country.
