The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced that it is currently investigating several celebrities suspected of misusing the Naira.
This information was disclosed in a statement issued by EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, on Sunday.
Oyewale stated that the anti-corruption agency has summoned numerous celebrities for questioning, and they have provided valuable insights during the interrogation process. He said, “Currently, the Commission is probing several celebrities implicated in Naira misuse.
“A number of them have given useful statements to the Commission, and many more have been summoned by investigators working on the case.
“The EFCC will persist in its no-sacred-cow mode of operations, and the public should be cautious not to violate laws against this crime,” the statement partly read.
Last week, renowned cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, was sentenced to six months in prison for misusing the Naira.
The sentence was handed down by Justice Abimbola Awogboro without the option of a fine.
