Austria head coach Ralf Rangnick has officially turned down Bayern Munich’s proposal to become their new manager.
The Bavarians were banking on Rangnick’s expertise to lead them to glory, but personal reasons have led him to decline the prestigious role. The Austria head coach on a statement released on Thursday he said:
“I’m the Austrian team coach with all my heart.
“I really enjoy this task and am determined to successfully continue on our chosen path.
“I would like to expressly emphasise that this is not a rejection of Bayern, but rather a decision for my team and our common goals. Our full concentration is on the Euros. We will do everything we can to get as far as possible.”
Bayern Munich, on the hunt for a successor to the departing Thomas Tuchel, had identified Rangnick as their prime candidate. The Austrian tactician, renowned for his innovative approach and player development skills, seemed like the perfect fit for the Bundesliga giants.
However Bayern’s sights were set on Xabi Alonso, but the former midfield opted to stay with Bayer Leverkusen.
After Xabi Alonso and Nagelsmann, also Ralf Rangnick says no to Bayern. Talks over new coach will re-start immediately.
