Esteemed Nollywood actresses, Rita Edochie and Chinwe Owoh, have made a heartfelt plea to their fellow Nigerians on behalf of their deceased colleague, Junior Pope’s widow, Jennifer Awele.
In a video that has since gone viral, captured at the late actor’s funeral in Enugu State, the seasoned actresses implored the public to allow Jennifer the space to grieve her husband. They emphasized that every household experiences its share of disagreements.
The actresses’ comments were in response to rumors suggesting that Junior Pope and his wife were estranged prior to his untimely passing. Chinwe Owoh stated, “They should let Junior Pope’s wife be! There isn’t a single household that doesn’t experience disagreements. Even if they had disagreements, they should let her be. Let her bury her husband in peace so his soul may rest.”
Rita Edochie added, “Who even claimed they were having problems? Junior Pope is no more. Everyone is sharing their own version of the story. I pray to God to accept his soul. He was a good man, who never discriminated against anyone. Wherever he is, if spirits can see, he should watch over his family. Are those claiming he was murdered in charge of their own lives? People need to stop spreading baseless rumors.”
She continued, “Social media has caused more harm than good. A man full of life has lost his life, and instead of letting him rest, they’re causing his wife more stress. God will judge every mouth spreading this false information. Let an innocent person have peace of mind.”
It’s worth noting that controversy arose online over Junior Pope’s funeral poster when fans noticed the word ‘husband’ was conspicuously missing. However, the late actor’s family later clarified that they hadn’t authorized the initial burial poster and subsequently corrected it to include his wife.
