Nigerian vocalist, Tiwa Savage, reflects on the early stages of her career when she was subjected to intense scrutiny for her daring fashion choices and provocative lyrics.
In a recent conversation with Kiss FM, UK, Savage reminisced about the backlash she received for her audacious lyrics during her youthful days.
She revealed her admiration for Ayra Starr, attributing it to her own experiences.
Despite the disapproval from Nigerians regarding her choice of attire, Starr has managed to make her mark on the international music stage, Savage observed.
Expressing her feelings for Starr, Savage said, “I have a deep affection for Ayra. She’s not only incredibly talented but also authentic. It stirs up emotions in me because I too faced a lot of criticism for my bold dressing style and daring lyrics when I started out.
“Now, when I see Ayra, if critics comment on her short skirts, I say, ‘Go ahead and make it even shorter.’
“She looks stunning and her talent is undeniable. Indeed, she’s a star.”
