Muhammad Sanusi, the 26th Emir of Kano, has expressed his reinstatement by the state government as a triumph of justice over previous injustices he had suffered.
On a recent Friday, Governor Abba Yusuf restored Sanusi to his position as Emir of Kano, succeeding the 15th Emir, Aminu Bayero. This occurred following the Kano State House of Assembly’s decision to repeal the 2019 Law that had permitted the formation of five separate emirates from the former Kano Emirates. This decision was made after a motion on the Kano State Emirate Council Amendment Bill was heard.
Despite a court injunction against Sanusi’s reinstatement, he was nonetheless enthroned according to the statement.
In a meeting with security chiefs on the following Saturday, Sanusi mentioned that he had not yet seen the specific court order. Speaking for more than an hour during the meeting, the Emir stated that the actions of the state government were a rectification of the injustices he had previously endured.
He further clarified that he had not seen the court order being referred to, dismissing it as a ‘media court order’ until he personally sees it.”
