BREAKING: Tinubu signs bill to reintroduce old National Anthem into law

President Bola Tinubu has officially signed the National Anthem Bill 2024into law, reinstating the old national anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.” This decision marks a departure from the now-recognized anthem, “Arise O Compatriots.”

Senate president Godswill Akpabio, announced this at the joint sitting of the senate and house of representatives on Wednesday.

Akpabio said the president signed the bill into law on Wednesday, May 29.

He said the president will not be delivering an address to the joint session of the National Assembly as earlier announced.

Tinubu arrived the chamber in company of his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and other presidential aides.

Upon his arrival, the old National Anthem, Nigeria We Hail Thee, was sang.
