Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that the club will not participate in the 2025 Club World Cup in the USA.
According to Ancelotti, both the club and its players will skip the tournament due to a lack of financial incentive.
The revamped FIFA Club World Cup, set to take place in June and July 2025, features 32 teams from various continents. However, Madrid, along with other unnamed clubs, has decided not to take part in the competition.
“FIFA can forget about it,” the Italian tactician told Il Giornale on Monday.”
The Italian coach said “The club and the footballers won’t participate in that tournament. One Real Madrid game is worth 20m, and FIFA wants to give us that sum for the entire tournament. No way. Like us, other clubs will refuse the invitation.”
Ancelotti has become the most successful Champions League coach, winning the trophy five times, three times with Madrid and twice with Milan.
Also won the European Cup twice as a footballer, always with the Rossoneri.
