Leicester City Football Club has officially named Steve Cooper as their new First Team Manager, signing him on a three-year contract that extends until June 2027.
Cooper, a former Nottingham Forest and Swansea City boss, brings Premier League experience to the team. During his tenure at Nottingham Forest, he guided the club to the top flight and established them there between 2021 and 2023. His qualities as a coach and leader have earned him an excellent reputation in the game.
Cooper’s appointment aligns with the club’s aspirations, and he aims to build on the strong relationship between fans and the team as Leicester City prepares for its top-flight return following promotion from the Sky Bet Championship last season.
Born in Pontypridd, Wales, Cooper achieved the UEFA Pro Licence at a young age while coaching with Wrexham. He later joined Liverpool as an academy coach and went on to manage England’s Under-16s and Under-17s teams, leading the latter to victory in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup.
Cooper: “This is a fantastic Club with a rich history and passionate supporters. I’m excited to work with such a talented squad.”
His most recent coaching role was at Swansea City, where he finished sixth in his first season in charge. Now, he takes the helm at Leicester City, ready to face the challenge of achieving shared ambitions in the Premier League.
