Rising Hip-Hop Artist Candy Bleakz Criticizes Lack of Support Among Female Artists in Nigeria

Date:

In a candid conversation on the latest episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, rising hip-hop star Candy Bleakz expressed her disappointment over the lack of solidarity among female artists in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

The artist, known for her unapologetic style and bold lyrics, did not mince words as she highlighted the challenges faced by up-and-coming female talent.

Candy Bleakz pointed out a significant issue in the industry: established female artists have not been utilizing their platforms to promote and support emerging female talent.

Without naming any specific individuals, she underscored a pervasive trend of neglect within the community.

There’s no female artiste in Nigeria right now that you can say has helped bring out another female artiste,” she asserted, calling attention to the absence of mentorship and collaboration that could otherwise foster a more inclusive and supportive environment.

Beyond her critique of the industry, Candy Bleakz also shared personal insights into her identity, particularly her tomboyish nature. She emphasized that her style is not a mere marketing tactic but a genuine reflection of who she is.

“I’m a tomboy naturally. I’m not doing it for music promotion. My mum had tried to change me but she couldn’t,” she revealed, offering a glimpse into her personal journey and the authenticity behind her public persona.

Candy Bleakz’s comments have sparked discussions about the need for greater unity and support among female artists in Nigeria, highlighting a critical area for growth in the industry. Her bold stance continues to resonate, as fans and fellow artists alike reflect on the importance of solidarity and mentorship in fostering new talent.
