Aston Villa has secured the services of Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana in a club-record transfer. The deal, valued at £50 million plus add-ons and a sell-on clause, sees Onana join the Villans from Everton. The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a long-term contract, bolstering Villa’s midfield options.
Onana, who made 72 appearances for Everton after joining from Lille in 2022, played for Belgium in Euro 2024. His medical with Aston Villa was completed after a short break following his international duties.
Unai Emery, Villa’s manager, continues to strengthen the squad ahead of their Champions League campaign, having already brought in central midfielders Enzo Barrenechea and Ross Barkley this summer.
The length of Onana’s contract at Aston Villa hasn’t been revealed by the club, although reports suggest he may have signed a five-year deal.
Before news of an agreement with Aston Villa, Onana was linked with a host of top European clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.
