Nigerian Singer Portable Attacked by Area Boys in Iju-Ishaga

Date:

Nigerian music sensation, Portable, has once again made headlines, but this time, not for his music or electrifying performances. The controversial singer was attacked by area boys during an event in Iju-Ishaga, Lagos State, on Sunday, leaving him and his team shaken. The incident has sparked widespread concern among fans and the entertainment industry, as Portable took to social media to share his harrowing experience.

The Attack: What Really Happened?

According to a viral video posted by Portable, the singer detailed how he was ambushed by a group of area boys while attending an event in the Iju-Ishaga area. The attack, which took place during a show organized by a friend, quickly turned violent, with Portable and his entourage becoming targets of aggression.

In a public statement on his Instagram page, Portable, speaking in pidgin, recounted the terrifying moments:

“Wahala big palaba around Iju-Ishaga. We go celebrate with @lincon_orn who dey sell motor. Inside Adugbo wey we dey do show, na so all dis Egbon adugbo achieve us, ZEHNATION boys are still missing oo.”

Portable explained that the area boys not only assaulted him but also his crew members, leaving some of them unaccounted for. The singer’s pain and frustration were evident as he revealed that personal items, including iPhones and an ATM card, were stolen during the chaos.

The aftermath of the attack has left Portable distraught, as he continues to search for his missing team members. In his video, the singer pleaded with his friend, @lincon_orn, to help recover the stolen items and find his missing colleagues:

They attacked my boys after I escaped… @lincon_orn should help tell those Egbon adugbo to return @iam_sexyshay’s 2 iPhones and my ATM. We see @dullarboi’s phones and car but we still can’t find him.”

The situation is dire, with Portable expressing deep concern for the safety of his artists and the loss of valuable belongings. He also lamented the betrayal he felt from those who he believed were fans, only to turn into aggressors:

“I haven’t seen @bamidola_ we hear say them attack him. Those are my artistes that are missing oo. God no go shame us. All these people are evil, na so them achieve me. Those Egbon adugbo collected my ice chain and my gold earring after I showed them love and gave them all my money. They still wanted to collect my bag. Are they fans or enemies?”

This attack on Portable highlights a growing concern for the safety of Nigerian artists, especially those who frequently perform in high-risk areas. The music industry, known for its vibrant and sometimes volatile nature, often sees artists navigating the thin line between fame and danger. Portable’s ordeal is a stark reminder of the need for heightened security measures for entertainers, particularly in volatile environments.

Fan Reactions and Social Media Outcry

The incident has ignited a wave of reactions on social media, with fans expressing their outrage and concern for Portable’s safety. Many have called for justice and urged authorities to apprehend the perpetrators. The video of Portable’s emotional recounting has gone viral, drawing attention to the risks that come with being a public figure in Nigeria.

Conclusion

As the dust settles on this shocking incident, Portable’s experience serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers that lurk in the shadows of fame. The Nigerian music industry must take proactive steps to ensure the safety of its stars, both on and off the stage. For now, fans and industry insiders alike can only hope for the safe return of Portable’s missing team members and the swift recovery of stolen items.

Portable’s bravery in speaking out against this attack, despite the trauma, is commendable. It is a call to action for the entertainment community to unite against such violence and ensure that artists can perform without fear for their lives.
