Dangote Petroleum Refinery has addressed recent rumors regarding petrol pricing, clarifying that the company has not set a price for its refined Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol. The clarification comes in response to a misleading report suggesting that Dangote had fixed the price at N897 per litre.
Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, emphasized that the PMS market is tightly regulated. According to Chiejina, the pricing of petrol is beyond Dangote’s control and falls under the jurisdiction of relevant government authorities. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) has yet to lift any product from the Dangote refinery, and as such, no pricing decisions have been made.
The company’s statement addressed a recent headline that inaccurately reported, “NNPC lifts Dangote Petrol, sells at N897 per litre.” Chiejina clarified, “NNPC has not commenced lifting of PMS from our refinery, and the issue of fixing the price does not arise as we have not finalized our contract with NNPC.”
Dangote Petroleum Refinery reassures the public that it is committed to providing high-quality petroleum products and urges the public to disregard the misleading report. The company continues to focus on ensuring that its products will be available across Nigeria in due course.
