Gallagher Opens Up on Chelsea Exit

Date:

Conor Gallagher, the former Chelsea midfielder, has revealed the reasons behind his departure from the club. In a statement shared by Fabrizio Romano on Friday, Gallagher explained that Chelsea’s new policy of signing players on long contracts was the primary reason for his exit. He acknowledged that clubs make their own decisions and have brought in top players on lengthy contracts, which wasn’t the case for him.

Gallagher was sold to Atletico Madrid in a deal worth over £33m during the summer transfer window. Since then, he has made appearances for Atleti and joined England’s squad for the UEFA Nations League clash with the Republic of Ireland. Ahead of the fixture, Gallagher addressed suggestions that he wasn’t technically suited for Mauricio Pochettino’s system. He expressed confidence in his abilities and highlighted his successful season with Chelsea under Pochettino’s guidance.

Gallagher expressed gratitude to Pochettino for the trust shown in him and to the fans for their appreciation. He emphasized that he had a good season with Chelsea, playing every game and earning the fans’ admiration. Gallagher is now focused on his new chapter with Atletico Madrid and his international duties with England. Despite the circumstances surrounding his departure, Gallagher remains positive and thankful for the opportunities he had at Chelsea.
