Rap Star Rich Homie Quan Dead at 34: Music World Mourns Loss

Platinum-selling Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan has tragically passed away at the age of 34, leaving his family, friends, and fans in shock and devastation. Born Dequantes Lamar, Quan rose to fame in the 2010s with hits like “Type of Way” and “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” and was a key part of the Rich Gang collaboration with Young Thug. Despite facing challenges and time in jail, Quan turned his life around through music.

Quan’s sudden death has sparked an outpouring of tributes and condolences from the music industry and fans worldwide. Fellow artist Playboi Carti led the wave of tributes, sharing clips of the late rapper on his Instagram story. BET also honored the late Rich Homie Quan, posting, “Rich Homie Quan has passed away at 34, as confirmed by his family. Quan provided us with so many hits during the 2010s. You knew you were in for something special as soon as you heard his voice on the hook. Our hearts go out to his family and friends. Rest in power, Quan.”

Quan’s legacy will be remembered through his impactful music and the lives he touched. He made his mark on the music scene in 2013 with his breakout hit “Type of Way,” which peaked at No. 50 on the Billboard Hot 100. He followed up with fan-favorite tracks like “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” and “Ride Out,” solidifying his place in the rap world. Quan later teamed up with Young Thug for the Cash Money Records project, “Rich Gang.”

Fans and collaborators continue to share their condolences and memories of Quan’s life and music. Quavo posted a picture of himself, Quan, and the late Takeoff via Instagram Stories, writing, “May God be with US never saw this being apart of our journey .” Rapper Playboi Carti posted a video of himself and Quan via Instagram Stories listening to Quan’s 2015 song “The Most.” Quan’s girlfriend discovered his lifeless body on the couch inside their Atlanta home and called 911, leaving his loved ones searching for answers as the exact cause of death remains unclear.
