Raphael Varane Retires from Football at 31

Date:

France’s 2018 World Cup-winning defender, Raphael Varane, announced his retirement from football on Tuesday at age 31. Varane, who previously played for Real Madrid and Manchester United, had joined Serie B side Como but was excluded from their squad after a knee injury in August 2024.

Varane shared the news on social media, stating, “A new life begins off the pitch. I will remain with Como, just without my boots and shin pads.”

The four-time Champions League winner hinted at future projects but has officially ended his football career.
