The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguard its votes in the upcoming local government elections, slated for October 24, 2024.
During a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Abdullahi Abbas, the APC State Chairman, revealed that the party is poised to conduct its primary elections soon. This will allow the emergence of candidates for all 44 local government areas.
“We are making every effort to ensure our supporters actively participate in the elections,” Abbas said. He emphasized the party’s focus on mobilising supporters and securing a peaceful and transparent voting process.
Abbas called on the state electoral commission to create a conducive atmosphere for all political parties, promoting free, fair, and credible elections. He demanded transparency and equal opportunities for all contestants, adding, “We want an unbiased process.”
The APC has also begun a door-to-door campaign to sensitize its supporters and encourage mass participation on election day. Abbas urged party members to avoid violence and remain peaceful throughout the election period.
He concluded by reiterating that Kano remains an APC stronghold and stressed the importance of maintaining the party’s lead through a fair electoral process that upholds democratic principles.
